About Maggie

wedding day

Hey Everybody!

I’m Maggie! Which you probably figured out when you clicked on the “About Maggie” tab.

I’m a 30-something New Mexico native living with her wine-loving hubby, destruction-seeking baby boy and adorably grumpy dog in Oakland, California. I work in the tech industry doing webby stuff on the internets.

My favorite food is nachos-or-pizza. I’m really torn on this one but I just hope I will never live in a world where I have to choose between the two. My favorite show is Friday Night Lights and while I definitely hold a torch for Tim Riggins, the older I get the more I find myself drawn to Coach T. My favorite kinds of music is gangster rap and folk. My favorite book is Bel Canto by Anne Patchett but I also have a soft spot for anything by Wally Lamb or David Sedaris. I love to cook but hate doing dishes. I also love to run. Not like the running fast kind of running but the kind where I can explore a good 3 to 4 miles of territory at a leisurely 11 minute per mile pace.

Since having a baby I pretty much do all of my shopping online. The only clothing store I’ve been inside in the last nine months is Target. Actually that’s not true, once I had to pee and ran into an Old Navy.

Luckily before having Xan I was pretty big-time shopper so I’ve figured out what works for me and what doesn’t. And when I’m wrong, I’m very thankful for free returns.

I got the fashion-blog-bug thanks to my dear friend Paloma of Nine-Thirty to Five. Paloma and her friend Karen are fancy-stylish lawyers in the City of Angels rocking pencil skirts like power-houses they are. Since I started following them I’ve also become a pretty big fan of Franish, Putting Me Together, Kendie Everyday and Work Clothes, I Suppose.

I’m not sure exactly where my casual work wear blog mission will take me but I’m really excited to have y’all along for the ride!
